I've made it with apricot jam in place of the duck sauce.

And I actually like it better when the chicken pieces are coated in a flour/sesame seed/spice mixture, instead of corn flake crumbs. Then you can omit the sesame seeds from the sauce, and just add a sprinkling on top of the glaze.

Sauce:

1 clove fresh garlic, minced
1 C water
3/4 C brown sugar
3/4 C ketchup
Handful of sesame seeds

Saute onion and garlic in oil
Add water, ketchup, brown Sugar and sesame seeds
cook and then simmer for a few minutes
pour over chicken nuggets and bake uncovered for around 15 minutes @ 350

this is really really yummy. I make it a lot for shabbos. I make it with cutlets but the sauce can easily be used for 8 chicken quarters also.

mix cornflake crumbs with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Clean and dry 2 1/2 lbs chicken cutlets.
Cut into nugget sizes.
Dip chicken in egg and then the cornflake crumbs.
Bake in a grease baking pan at 370 for about 25 minutes or until done.

mix:
1 cup duck sauce
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sesame seeds

Pour on top of chicken and reheat until heated through.

Serve.

My DD requested some kind of sesame chicken for the Purim Seudah and she gave me recipe that called for frying it. I said, no way, I don't fry anything and I remembered seeing this recipe here.

I just made it (and froze it) and it is fantastic! Thank you.

Ok, I'm back with a question because I want to make this NOW.
What do you mean by "fry"? Do you mean to fry in oil and then put it in the baking pan? Or to bake it with the sauce in the pan?
Thanks!

I made this last night, amazed that this recipe bumped up just when I was looking for something like this. It takes much quicker than you'd think it takes. It came out really well. I changed it a bit though. I used flour instead of cornflake crumbs, cut chicken into strips instead of nuggets to save time, oven-fried it, and put just a few tsps of sugar.

I've also made this dipped in a flour/sesame seed/salt mixture before baking.

The above recipe gets fried in a pan with oil.
But you can oven fry in a pan , place oil in pan, heat until sizzling, add nuggets, bake, flipping halfway.

I know I'm late, but for future reference- I make this recipe without frying; I just bake breaded chicken nuggets with a little oil drizzled on top or a spray of PAM for crispiness. Then pour bubbling sauce on top and bake another 15 min or so.
