Recently we have had two posts about mens' health. We have forums here for kids' health; I think men is a natural outgrowth of that - after all, we care for our husbands and sometimes fathers and brothers too !

Please put your thoughts here so Yael can see them.

That's a great idea. I would be most interested in such a forum.

what if there is one that is just general adult health?
that would be more broad so it's not empty all the time.

A seperate mens health forum would be great. Even if it's not frequented as much as other forum, it makes finding info much easier.

My husband would hate it if I ever asked a women's forum about health questions related to him.
Google is good enough, and I assume most husbands on this site have internet access to ask their own questions if googling is not enough. We don't need to discuss our husbands behind their backs here.

My opinion.

I would tend to agree with Hashem Yaazor. I like this site as a women's haven and I think putting a section on men's health might draw more men to try getting on here. (I also don't like the idea - even though I'm sure it happens - of other pple's dhs reading what we have to say on this site either.)

What if other people wanted to discuss male medical issues? Would that bother him as well?

The first post that caught my eye was about men-only exercise DVDs. It wasn't private. Do you really think your dh would have a problem with innocuous discussions such as those ?

But that's exactly what goes on here !

But that occurs here without a specific health forum. How to celebrate anniversaries, what kind of gift to buy dh, etc.

I'm talking strictly health related topics.

This is a women's site, let's keep it that way.

I und'd at times ppl might want to post questions regarding their dh, however in general this all pertains to women and their relationships. As HY pointed out, there is google (and other sites) for help in those areas.

But we have kiddie sections too. Don't tell me we can talk about kids healthcare but not husband's healthcare.

Choc moose can you edit the forum and add a poll? that might be an easier way for yael to see?
like yes absolutely, great idea. no-I dont think my DH would want me talking about him, no-would attract men, dont care, undecided?

Uh... don't think so.
Little kids can't take care of themselves. They rely on their mothers to care for them, ask advice on health issues and take them to doctors.
Men can do those things on their own. They can take care of themselves, ask online on their own and know when to go to doctors without their wife. I say nonono.

You mean there are men who actually go to the doctor on their own without their wives nagging them? shock
