this was kinda included in the menu thread but I thought it could use its own.
what simanim do u eat on rosh hashana and what do u say with it?

ill start.
apple in honey - leshana tova umetuka
carrot - she yirbu zechuyoteinu
fish/ ram head - she nihiyeh l'rosh ve lo lezanav
schnitzel - she nitzal misoneinu
farfel - aleh aveiros zalen farfalen veren
beets- she yistalku soneinu
pomegranate- she yirbu zechuyoseinu k'rimon

ive noticed a few people making gourd. (like butternut or acorn squash) what do u say on that?
also what to say for leeks.

from my post 2 years ago. sadly rhis year due to broken right arm I wont be making anything. im relying on the chessed of my parents.
For the leeks, I make patties like latkes. Absolutely delish and they look lovely next to all the other simanim:
Tamar (date) = sheyitamu soneinu';
Rimon = sheyirbu zechuyoteinu;
Apple with honey = shana tova umetuka;
Kara (we use pumpkin) = kra roa gzar dinenu;
Rubia (black eyed peas) sheyirbu zechuyotainu;
Karti (leeks) = sheikartu soneinu;
silka, selek (beets leaves or beets) sheyistalku soneinu etc...
You can make nice little dishes out of these foods and not need too much of a meal after.
I will never put a fish or sheep head on my table, in a pot or my fridge or anywhere in my house so the above had better be enough
