homemade whole wheat challa
Sushi
mushrom barley soup
meat & potatoes and sweet potatoes
greenbeans
going out to eat for lunch
(we're not big eaters and I hate throwing food in the garbage, so, though my menu might look short, it's plenty.)

The only parts of the menu that I have set are:
Marinated lemon chicken (which I have to get going on Friday AM)
and
tri color gefilte fish (one layer salmon, one layeer gefilte, one layer spinach)
Anyone else have something interesting cooking for Shabbos?

Nothing interesting- but anyone have an idea for an easy side dish with vegetables and specifically potatoes. Usually I put them under the chicken but this week I'm making shnitzel.

Well I have been making sweet potatoes, by dicing them and mixing with olive oil and spices, my baby loves it and toddler too. I bet you can do the same with regualr potatoes, but you might want to put some sauce on it as well, as the sweet potoate are tasty by themselves, not so with the potato.
good luck!

I make sweet potato pie. Boil 2 of them and mash with 2 eggs 1/4 cup orange juice. I use real maple syrup to sweeten but you could use sugar. Pour into pie crust and put pecans on top. I love decorating with the nuts. It looks so pretty.

I once saw this recipe but never tried it:
defrost a loaf of gefilte fish and divide it in 3 equal parts.
mix some horseradish sauce (chrain) into one part
mix dill into the second part
mix mashed cooked carrots into the third part
layer the 3 parts in a loaf pan and bake. The fish looks like a tri colored rainbow when sliced.

I put my fish out on the porch to cool. A cat got into it so we have bought fish this week.
Also, I didn't have a chance to bake. So I have 1 bakery challah and one of mine from the freezer.
