First of all, if you felt like dying, you want to be forgiven for your sins prior to death, I would think. Secondly, I feel instead of answering this question, we should help you get the help you need to determine why it is that you would choose death over life. Whether therapy is an answer, or getting out of a difficult situation etc...
You sound depressed and that should be dealt with TODAY!
Cyber hugs is all I can offer you.

Reminds me of the story of the fellow who killed someone so he would be killed and then his family would get his insurance money (there was a suicide rider so that was not an option). Of course he ended up gettting life instead....
None of us are Hashem's accountants. It doesn't work that way, especially if a person is motivated by sadness and heartache and not evil. Your biggest avodah at this point is to work on your mental health. Not that teshuva, tefilla and tzedaka aren't important but do what you need to do to get back to your best self; that's probably the best definition of teshuva anyway.
I wish you all the best getting the hadracha you need, and speedily.
