OH please Hashem, no more orthodox jew stories in the NYT. I love how easy it is to make a mockery of someone else's lifestyle.

now I did. I like how they are making a big deal out of 26 abuse cases filed by orthodox jews out of 700 (and that's the biggest in the country). for sure, it is 26 cases too many. but still, nowhere else in the world do they have stats like that.

Well at least frum people are starting to realize that it's good to call the police on abusers.

If the Amish started using canned pickles instead of homemade, there would be an article about in in the NYT. This is a public interest article about a sub culture which lives amongst all the other sub cultures of NY!

Look, this has to be dealt with...I don't think they were smearing anyone..

and it isn't like every of them is going against there rabbi. My Rav paskened in a case last year that they should go to the police...he didn't feel it was his place to judge a felony...
Rabbi Meir Fund of Flatbush also said that this should be dealt with by the police.
Right on!
It was once considered a chillul Hashem to go to court...
now IMHO it seems a chillul Hashem not to...because everyone knows we have this problem too, like every sector of society...but our "protected" status or perception of it protects perpetrators, punishes victims and allows the problem to grow like a yena malcha...

Something has to be done...and frankly, I don't mind even the mainstream media discussing it anymore...again, the shame is the silence, not in the willingness to deal with it!

Maybe it's a glitch. It didn't work on a new thread I experimented with. S ex came up relations on the subject line.
