What can I make for supper using potatos, american cheese and onions?

Mashed potatoes w/ sauteed onions. Top each scoop w/ a slice of cheese. Put into oven till cheese melts.

baked potatoe ... cut open into halves - scoop out & mashed up and then back into potatoe skin as bowl - melt cheese with fried onions on top (add some garlic too and maybe salt & a little pepper)

Grease a 9x13.
Slice potatoes thin, and layer with onion slices and the cheese broken up.
Season with salt and pepper.
Add a bit of milk to make it creamier.
Cover and bake for a good hour or so at 350.

nope
If you slice them thin enough, they should bake easily.
