I have meatballs that I am going to keep warm in the crockpot for Shabbos lunch; and I was thinking what would happen if I took defrosted hot-dogs wrapped in tinfoil and put on top of the meatballs - so that they would be warm for Shabbas lunch - do you think they would be disgusting... anyone ever do it.

Thanks -

I don't see a problem with anything but the "warm" part. I think they need to be heated through, in case of germs etc.

I have made hot doggs in a "blanket" for shabbos before. I wrap in pastry dough and bake, or in an eggroll wrapper and fry. You can warm it up shabbos day on top of your crock pot.

We also started making beans soup with hotdogs for shabbat lunch since the weather got a bit colder. It comes out nicely, kids like them over rice, except the texture does get a bit soft.

when I put hot dogs in cholent they came out tasteless. But I made hot dogs in puff pastry the other week and the kids loved them cold.
