can anybody please tell me any side affects of taking pills for ADD. I wanna start my son on these pills but he has no hyperactivity what-so-ever. I am just concerned about his focusing while learning. Any feedback will greatly be appreciated.

I don't understand. Why do you want to start him on them? Have you had him evaluated by a pediatric neurologist? What does s/he say?

What Shalhevet said.
Also, different medications have different uses and side effects. I would think that the psychiatrist or whoever prescribed them could help you with the info.

First of all, you should get a prescription from a competant pediatrician. My children's pediatrician will not give a prescription for ritalin unless the child has had a full psychological and neurological assessment and has a definite diagnosis. That being said, I know ritalin causes a definite lack of appetite as a physical symptom. It may help your child to focus better, but so does having a good breakfast, getting enough sleep, and many people say omega 3 vitamins (fish oil, etc.) improve concentration.
