Absolutely nothing creative! Whatever fruit is on sale, some challah rolls, and maybe something nosh-y for the kids. People are happy to have a Shabbos afternoon "destination," and you don't have to break the budget or make yourself crazy.
In addition to all the other great suggestions, I had another trick when my kids were little: goody bags. Every week, I made pekelach with special candy or snacks. Sometimes I decorated them if I had time, and occasionally I'd put in small toys. These were distributed on Shabbos morning or after naps -- depending on when I needed a break -- and they kept everyone occupied for longer than you'd imagine.
