There are many consignment shops in NYC. If you google it, you'll come up with shops like Bis, Encore, Michaels, etc. Most of the ones I know about are located on the Upper East Side.

OP - Anyone know of a place that I could put it up for consignment? I am not saving it for my DD, She is 10 months! I hope she will be a slimmer build than me pg!!

Try Googling, or looking in Manhattan Yellow Pages. There is a fantastic Gemach in Lawrence which may be interested, but it's not bridal. There's always Craig's list as well.

GIRRRL...
Your dress is SMOKIN'!!!!!

But--it is a very distinct style--most people want a simple white gown.

I LOVE it.

I bet you are a fun person to be around because that dress has tons of personality.

There must be someone else on the planet that wil appreciate that unique style as much as you!

ValleyMom - Thanks deary! I like to think of myself as a fun person! This dress is so fantastic - the photo does not do it justice! I hope that other women on this site will see this forum and another Kallah who can "carry it off" will be able to spend the most memorable day of their lives wearing it!

I'd rephrase. The only time Williamsburg girls wear floor length gowns is to their own weddings and to their sibling's or other close family member's weddings. I don't think people anywhere else wear floor length gowns either to weddings besides close family or friends and their own of course.

Valley Mom, you're right on Thumbs Up . The dress has a lot of personality!

it's gorgeous on the other hand a pink gown is not very common. I've never seen a kallah in anything but pure white or off white.

This doesn't mean that there aren't people out there for it. It does however mean it's harder to find a customer for.

good luck!

Hey MommyZ
Your gown is really pretty.
Very classic.
And your mom's gown is beautiful too! Did you have that custom made?
I looked like a Persian Princess at my wedding--clearly NOT on purpose as I am NOT Persian.
Just no taste <sigh>.
And for my engagement photos I like like an Italian Mobsters daughter--my 80's hair was carefully manicured and every hair was painstakingly glued into place with Sebastian Freeze.

I never knew looking at people in their wedding gowns could be so therapeutic.

I wish everyone would post pictures of themselves in their wedding gowns.

I am LOVING this thread!!!!

Neither one was custom made. My gown had a lining put in on the top part and the sleeves. It was lace before. My mother got her gown for a gemach.

Valley Mom, I'm sure you looked gorgeous.

Sebastian Freeze? Remember Stiff Stuff? That stuff was water repellant!

maybe you can be a gemach of your own, with your dress. you can put in free ads in certain places for anyone interested in that size beautiful expensive unique custom made gown for their wedding.
I think there are some places where you can put in free ads if it's not for profit.
you can say it was only worn once- at your own wedding. (which is true)
many people might want to wear a beautiful expensive custom made wedding gown that was only worn once.
and many people are the same size as you.
you can describe it so they're not shocked- so you get those interested. you can say it's unique, with pink tulle or whatever it's called.
then you can shep nachas when they use it.

by the way, I'm not familiar with the word "tulle" but gather it's some kind of material.

can it technically be dyed a different color? (pardon my ignorance if that's a silly question)
I see people writing about dying the gown, but not about dying the tulle.
if it's possible, then that's another option, if people don't like that color.

I looked it up on google, wikipedia, and it says that tulle netting can be dyed.

so if they don't like that the tulle is pink, maybe trying dying it another color that people might like- or give them the option of dyeing it to another color that they like better.

or you can dye it to another color to use as as a sister of the bride or best friend of the bride, if applicable.
