This is crazy, but it really works, is cheap, and non-chemical:
TOOTHPASTE!!! the mint, paste kind.
Put it on as soon as you can after the bite, rub it on a little, and let dry. Most, if not all, of the time, the bite will disappear! You can cover it with a bandaid if it's in an obvious place or still a bit sticky.
Any other ideas?

Every night we would all be bitten by mosquito's until we bought a mosquito zapper. It is a plug in lamp which emits a blue light to attract mosquitos. It zaps them and works really well.

Last year in parenting magazine I saw a recommendation to use ROLL-ON deoderant. I don't really know if it works, but it stops me from scratching the area so it settles down more quickly.
I doubt that would work on little kids.

As a preventative measure, I make my own mosquito repellent. I put plain lemon juice and some water into a spray bottle, and before I go out I give myself a spritz all over, and have not gotten one bite since!
