Ok, I don't know why I'm blanking out cuz it's not like I've never done this b4, but I am making a meal for someone who is just after birth. What should I make? I was thinking along the lines of nice enough to send, cheap, and of course yummy!
Can someone please help me make a meal out of the following courses? You can add anything that you think will work - just think nice, cheap, and yummy. THANKS!!
Minestrone soup
onion soup
carrot soup
pasta
rice
potatoes
salad
tuna patties
chicken patties
meatballs
something in puff pastry
something with pasta
veggie stir fry
chicken veggie stir fry
casserole (type??)
no lasagna - too expensive here
no pizza - someone else is already making it

I am taking this as an invitation to order
I'd like minestrone/onion soup
potatoes
meatballs
and maybe a veg stir fry , if thats not too much to ask?
I dont see a need for sending bread/drinks/icecream/cake/compote, this is meant to help a new mother with the main meal. she probably has bread(if not you can send) I usually drink water, and I hardly serve something after the main dish(shabbos is fruit)
sorry if I misunderstood your post. did you want suggestions of possible combinations of your options?
I think its best to stay with what you are comfortable doing. so that the chesed doesnt become too much of a burden, and no real flops

I can only use ground chicken or maybe shnitzel bits if I am doing chicken. fiddle, I forgot all abt mush/barley soup! yum!
How about:
minestrone or onion soup
garlic knots
some type of lettuce salad
pasta with cheesy mushroom sauce
OR
mushroom barley soup
chicken veggie stir fry over spaghetti
salad

lately I've made a few meals for families with new babies. In my opinion, the best meals were those that supplied everything. Maybe since I had c/s, and I know that I can't just leave to go pick up some bread. It was hard enough figuring what to do for lunches.
So I made: (skipped soup since too hot)
bowl of fruit (even like a can of pineapple mixed with fresh grapes or some watermelon)
fresh salad
rice
chicken ratatouille
chicken ratatouille: saute onions, zucchini, anything else u want, pour into baking pan with cut up nugget-size of chicken pieces, and a can of marinara. mix, cover, bake for half hour.
serve over couscous or rice
