How much to pay a teenager coming to help?

Hi, I was wondering what a normal amount would be to pay for a 15-16-17 yr. old girl to come for one hour in the afternoon to help out with the kids?

How many kids? Is it everyday? Where do you live? (These all matter.) If it's once a week, then $10. If it's something everyday or a few times a week, then $20 for the entire school week. Also, I'd give her an after-school snack as well. (I always give food as an incentive) Smile

I think it's appropriate to ask her what she takes, as no one wants to go to a job expecting one amount and be given an amount much lower. Of course, if the amount is to high for you to pay, ask her if a different amount is okay and hopefully the brief moment of awkwardness will pass and everyone will still be happy.

Twice a week. I'll be home during that time...
Food is a great Idea! Kids are usually eating supper at that time or soon after so maybe cut up fruit would be good.
