I know ketchup+mayo is similar to thousand island dressing, but it's just not the same. There are some kind of spices or some other "zing" to the store-bought dressing that mayo+ketchup is just missing.
Anybody have any recipes or suggestions?

Here is my extremely easy recipe:
Mix equal parts mayo and ketchup.
Add sweet pickle relish to taste.

My recipe is basically like Rubber Duckie's:
1 cup mayo
1 cup sweet pickle relish
1/2 cup ketchup
I've tried adding a 1/2 teaspoon of garlic or onion powder, and it's very good, but I'm usually too lazy!

I add some lemon juice (or viniger, or pickle juice)
salt, pepper, oregano, granulated garlic, sometimes paprika and/or a few chilly flakes. _________________ גשם, גשם בוא!

| Similar to most others, I used to use mayo, ketchup or sometimes tomato paste (it's not so sweet) and vinegar. It's the vinegar that gives it the tang.
