How fresh does a stool sample need to be? The lab near me is only open in the morning and he generally makes bm only in the evening

Call your doctor; it is the weekend, but s/he is up now.
I don't think, though that it shouldn't be a problem because a kid can't be expected to produce that on demand.
BTDT but it's B"H been at least two years so I'm not sure.

They like them to be pretty fresh-at least the ones I needed for my son. The almost made me redo one once that was a few hours old. I would find out first to be sure.

I've heard that you could freeze it if you can't get a fresh sample and that's usuallly ok

I collected my kids stool over the weekend & froze it till Monday when dr's office opened.
