I just discovered a pack of pepper steak in the back of my freezer. It is no longer red in color, rather brown, I am assuming that is just freezer burn, since it hasn't been defrosted since I bought it. Is it still safe to eat? Will it taste fine?
What can I make in the crockpot with it? I want to leave it so it is ready when I get home.
Thanks

Brown just means that air got to it.

So it's fine to eat? Will it taste bad?

It will be fine. You can tell when meat is freezer burned. It looks dry and whiteish.

so what can I make with it in the crockpot? Something saucy that maybe I will then serve on bagguettes?

Place the meat in the crockpot along with pepper and onion slices.
Pour a thick teriyaki sauce or barbecue sauce over it all. Cook on LOW for about 8 hours.
