does anyone have a suggestion for a substitution for onion soup mix. I see this as an ingredient in so many recipies in frum cookbooks especially, but I am trying to lower my salt intake, and it's loaded with salt, but I love the taste of it. so I'm looking to substitute. thanks!

I use a combonation of salt, pepper, onion powder, and a tiny bit of soy sauce (optional). I don't ever use onion soup mix because of the MSG.
