My 18 month old has been sick on and off for the past couple of months and she lost a lot of weight.

Does anyone have any ideas for foods that I can feed her that will help her put the weight back on (not junky food)?

I was going to suggest the exact same things!

Avocado, cheese, and peanut butter all have high levels of healthy fats and calories.

avocado, vegetables or fish sauteed in pure butter or ghee - homemade purified butter, olive oil drizzled lightly over foods, salmon and flaxseeds in recipes for Omega 3s, nuts for snacking...

When my baby was underweight, my doctor suggested eggs. I dont know why, maybe because they are high in protein

Simple. Feed your baby whatever you wouldn't eat if you were dieting!

I would avoid added sugars and try to stick to nutrient rich foods since you don't want your kid refusing to eat anything that isn't chocolate.

Drizzle oil and butter on everything. My 18 month old loves eating/licking butter plain.
Deep fried french fries are always a hit and you can try with sweet potatoes for added nutrition.

One important note: Peanut butter is great, as long as it's creamy (no nuts to be choking hazards) and approved by your pediatrician. As the mother of a child who needs to gain weight, I can tell you that you want to bulk up the protein and healthy/ dairy fats as much as possible. Give whole milk as often as possible. When you feed your baby yogurt, make sure it's full fat yogurt, etc. Cheese omlets are a great idea. Also, hamburgers, meatballs, meatloaf, and anything else made with ground beef, are great. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about it. I'm happy to help. Very Happy

Homemade pudding (milk, eggs, cornstarch, vanilla and other flavorings, sugar)
Milkshakes, again homemade. Mostly milk (and as someone mentioned it should be whole milk) and cream and flavorings.
I would also go with milk/eggs as this is what we did.
Breads with spreads.
Concentrate on friends she loves to eat that are easily digestible and don't involve a lot of work to eat (hence the puddings and the milkshakes)

Also, if your child tends toward constipation, try fresh juices. What really worked with us was beet/apple/carrot/pear. Very nourishing, had a sweetish taste to it, and helped a lot.
Being less "full" in one way may make it easier for her to consume more substance.
