I sometimes buy in the deli/takeout a spicy olive salad. It is sliced olives, chopped garlic, and some spices, oil... I decided that it would be way cheaper to make it myself but am looking for a recipe for it. I don't really want to just play around, trial and error, so any recipes would be appreciated.
Thanks

You're talking about a garlic salad, right, not a dip?

from what u describe, I think this is what it is. ive made it and everyone loves it. (well at least those who like olives)

sliced olives
fresh garlic cut into thin slices
olive oil (or any oil)
I put in schug for added spiciness. (hot pepper mix from sabra, in fridge section)
a drop of paprika for color.

Yes. It is not a dip, not blended at all. It is a salad, slices of olives, pieces of garlic, in a liquid (not sure if it is oil or mixture) and spices
If you have this type of recipe, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

This sounds about it. Might give it a try this week. Do you have any exact proportions for this?

its hard to give measurements, cuz it depends how much u want and how sharp u like it, but I made it like this

a can of sliced olives, without the liquid
at least half a head of garlic, sliced into thin slices, (but I use more, if u like it more garlicy)
2 Tbls oil
1 tsp schug
and a dash of paprika

this is my favorite olive salad! It goes great with deli!!!

A zesty marinated salad. Will last a couple of days in the fridge.

1 pint cherry tomatoes

2 celery ribs, sliced

¼ cup black olives, sliced

⅓ cup green olives, sliced

¼ cup parsley, coarsely chopped

1 small garlic cloves, minced

⅓ onion minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

salt and pepper to taste

Toss all the ingredients in a bowl, season and let sit at room temperature for some time before serving.

Yields: serves 6

Thanks. Of course I know that the measurements would depend on how spicy I like it, but was mainly wondering about the proportions of olives to oil, like how much oil to use. This clarifies it for me and I think I will try it this week for shabbos.

Thanks, Love My Babe! I made your salad for shabbos this week and with some proportion adjustments, it tasted just like what I was aiming for!
Thanks!

I have an olive dip that is more of a salad bec its not creamy or anything.
its green olives and black olives like a 20: 8 ratio. 4 cloves garlic. olive oil. and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper! its yum. I use it was a dip for challah but im sure if you dont cut it up so teeny can be a great salad!

I've been making this salad with cherry tomatoes and e/o loves it. Thing is, cherry tomatoes are pretty expensive when making this salad in large quantities. any ideas of what I can replace the cherry tomatoes with? Or split with half and half? I thought of maybe carrots but my husband isn't a huge carrot fan so I'd only want to go light on those if 'you' thought that was normal. Any other ideas? tia.
