I want to make sushi. Can I cook lox to make the salmon part of it?

I'd use lox as is. Any particular reason why you feel you need to cook it? If you preferred cooked fish, I'd go for plain (ie uncured) salmon or tuna.

probably dries out. actually lox and onion omelets are very good, but I still dont see a need to cook it for sushi

It doesn't realy dry out totally (salmon is a oily fish), but it just breaks up in flakes as it's sliced thinly.
People do like cooked lox with scrambled eggs thouh.

We use plain old regular lox. No need to cook it first (why would you??).

I would think that using lox instead of plain raw salmon would make your sushi too salty.

Well, if you can't get fresh, raw salmon from a fish monger you trust and/or have no way of getting it home safely, the responsible thing to do is buy and use lox.

I think if I had no access to good quality fresh salmon/tuna, I'd make vegetarian sushi. Tamago, anyone?
