Just started my daughter on solids. Im a new mom and just wondering. How much oatmeal mixed with milk should she be eating in the first few weeks of starting solids? I dont want to over stuff her. Like a tablespoon? Also how much of a stage one jar of veggie or fruit should she be eating in the first few weeks?

thanks

At the beginning they don't eat much. Follow her cues. I wouldn't give her more than a size of stage one of anything. Also I would only do once a day for the beginning. Then again how old is she?

She's 6 months and eats just a few tablespoons of the jarred food. She just started solids last week. Should she be eating full jar of stage one for each feeding?

See how it goes. Like a previous poster said, follow her cues. My ped says that babies know when they're full and will stop when they don't want anymore. At least my DC does that. If she wants a full jar of stage 1, I'd say at 6 months if she wants it, why not?

Every baby is different. My babies start off the first day or two with just 1 or two teaspoons full. But then they start to eat a half a jar for a meal. My baby, 6 months now, just started last week. she's having about half a jar or less (not sure because I make homemade).

It's all about getting to know new tastes it doesn't really matter how much.

At this stage I also think a baby needs only one meal a day. (But not for too much longer.

At 6 months. I don't think she should be eating more then once a day. If she doesn't finish the jar it's OK. It takes time. In a few weeks you can increase her feeding's. But then again if she responds well and seems to want more then it is OK.
