I find that a nice big green salad, like a ceaser (have no idea how to spell that) is really refreshing next to chulent and it really looks nice.
also you can make different kugels, apple, veg. etc.

The salad sounds like a great idea!!!
We used to eat by this couple when we were newlyweds.
The wife used to make this amazing Ceasar Salad.
She would make individual plates of the salad, including the dressing.
It looked and tasted amazing!
I think it looks fancier to do it like that as apposed to one large bowl for everyone!!!

Cut up scallions and half some cherry tomatos. Mix with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder. It's always been a winner at my table.
Another idea: one large salad with a few different homemade dressings to chose from.
I've been served liver or eggsalad and cucumber salad is always refreshing in the summer (served cold). You could also go with this broccoli salad:
Fresh broccoli florets
crazins
red onion
cashews
Dressing:
1/2 c mayo
1/3 c sugar
1/3 c white vinegar
Make the dressing on friday, but don't put it on the salad until you are ready to serve it! This has even become a favorite of people who will not eat broccoli at all.

I take a wooden skewer. Place cherry tomato, baby corn, cold cut rolled up, a chicken nugget, cold cut, baby corn and again a cherry tomato.
Oh and a pickel cut into 1/3 on each end before the corn.
I skewer per person.
Really colorful and easy.

Deli roll is easy:
Roll out a piece of puff pastry dough, smear some mustard (honey mustard works wel, or just plain mustard) then you can put any kind of cold cuts on top - as many as you want, depeding on how thick you want the roll to be. I use salami and pastrami...
Then roll it up as if you're rolling a babka. Brush some egg onto it and sprinkle sesame seeds.
It's really good and looks nice too.
(you can garnish it with fresh parsley flakes....)

Bodek makes frozen ones. But for a broccoli slald I find fresh brocolli is much nicer & crunchier.

for those who prefer a sweeter deli roll- replace the mustard with duck sauce.

I leave out the sesame and serve it with honey mustard. We serve deli roll hot though.
What did you decide on in the end?

dif things we make:
coldcut salad - slice/dice coldcuts w/ lettuce, cherry tomato, avocado, red onion. Add dressing & croutons/crackers.
wraps - smear dressing (I use one of the following: -ketchup/mayo, plain mayo, honey mustard/mayo) on wraps. Slice up coldcuts, lettuce, avocado & tomato. Fold. Cut into 4or5 pieces. S/times use toothpicks if not staying closed.
Shnitzel
Chicken Rollup - Smear chicken w/ mayo. Put a slice of coldcut. Some chopped spinach. Roll up. Put in baking pan. Sprinkle cornflake crumbs. Bake uncovered 40 minutes on 350. Thats basic recipe, but I change vege inside, s/times no coldcuts, etc.
