Hi, I'm iy"H also expecting twins. My husband spoke to a (lubav) Rabbi and he said we need to shlug 5 chickens. As far as "broadcasting/publicizing" he suggested we go at a time that's inconvenient for most "yentas" like in the AM's and as far as the pricing he said we can put a few dollars toward each chicken and pay the rest with maaser money.

According to Rabbi Art Scroll, the Scroller Rebbi, a pregnant woman does one hen for herself and a hen and rooster for the fetus.
This is my first time ever doing it, since my kids are all summer babies and we used money... CHAI and I used double Chai.
