Is it possible to not fry the chicken won tons from KBD I? I want to try it. But if anyone did it and it was bad I'd like to hear about it so that I don't make the same mistake.

Wonton wrappers need to be fried or boiled.
If you want to bake this dish, maybe use a different type of dough?
(My friend once bought eggroll wrappers instead of pastry dough for making bourekas, and after baking them, the dough of the bourekas were hard and inedible.)

No I've made these - delicious - but can't imagine them not fried. I do it in a wok. The wrappers would be hard if you would try to bake it. Boiled, it would be like dumplings.

I've baked wonton wrappers before (not this recipe, but another one). I just made sure I pinched the wrapper closed very well, and then I sprayed cooking spray on them before putting them in the oven. I also baked them at a higher temp than normal - like 400-425. They probably don't taste quite as good as fried, but you save a LOT of fat and I think they taste fine.

IIRC dumplings are steamed not boiled.

I wasn't going to try based on everyone else.
But maybe based on this I'll try like 4 first to see how they come out. But I'm not doing it until tonight so I'd love other opinions.

I tried it. Sprayed it with PAM. Baked at 420. It was okay. Not horrible. But I decided to fry them. Its for Rosh Hashana. Maybe when I make them for a regular shabbos I will bake them.
[I did eat all 4 that I baked pretty quickly, so that proved to me that they weren't so bad]

Won Ton Wrapped Chicken with Apricot Dipping Sauce

MARINATED CHICKEN
• 3 tsp brown sugar
• 2 tsp salt
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 4 tsp dry sherry
• 2 tsp cornstarch
• 6 Tbsp vegetable oil
• 1 tsp soy sauce
• 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 3 cutlets), cut into approx. 32 1-inch squares

In a small bowl combine the brown sugar, salt, garlic, sherry, cornstarch, vegetable oil, and soy sauce. Mix the chicken squares with the marinade; cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.

WRAPPERS
• 1 (12 oz.) package Won Ton wrappers
• 2 cups peanut oil

Lay the Won Ton wrappers in a single layer. Place 1 square of the marinated chicken in the center of the Won Ton wrapper. Dab a small amount of marinade on each of the corners. Fold the Won Ton over the chicken by bringing each of the corners to the center of the square, overlapping slightly, like a squared envelope.

Heat the peanut oil in a large skillet until hot. Fry the Won Ton wrapped chicken for about 2 minutes per side, turning once.

APRICOT DIPPING SAUCE
• 12 oz. apricot preserves OR 1-½ cups duck sauce
• 4 Tbsp yellow mustard
• 4 Tbsp teriyaki sauce

In a small bowl, blend the apricot preserves, mustard and teriyaki sauce. Serve 4 won tons on each plate with the dipping sauce in the center.
