my dvd player (not compact) stoped working. im sure it didnt happen by itself. ds had a big hand in this, but I have no idea what he did. the probelm is that it always says "no disc". even when theres a dvd in there. any clues?

Most likely the sensor is knocked out of place or broken. If it's broken, I doubt you can get it fixed at a reasonable cost (ie substantially less than a new player.)

can I check myslef if the sensor is out of place? or do I have to take it to a repair place?

It depends on the player. Unless it's an expensive unit, as a place if they will look at this at no charge.
