IIRC, Put a damp cloths over it and iron. Wax comes onto cloth in seconds.

No damp cloth. First put in freezer, then break off the brittle large chunks. Then scrape off the surface wax with a fingernail, credit card or dull knife like a butter knife. For what's left, put brown paper bags or paper towels over and under the cloth and press with a DRY warm iron. Not steam. Keep moving the paper to a fresh spot as each spot absorbs the wax. When no more wax is absorbed, wash in hot water. If any spot remains, use a commercial dry-cleaning solvent like Carbona, available in the laundry section of your supermarket.
