I'm washing my down coat now but don't have tennis balls (or clean sneakers) for the dryer. What can I substitute so the feathers get distributed evenly? TIA.

I toss a gym shoe in with my down items if I can't find a tennis ball.

I know - I wrote I didn't have clean sneakers and certainly wasn't going to use my sweaty, dirty gym shoes 
I improvised and used sweat socks tied together which seemed to work.
