Does anyone know what the name Reva means? And how it is spelled in Hebrew?
TIA!

It is derived from the name Rivka. It is spelled reish, yud, vais, hai (Sorry I don't have hebrew on my computer!) It's a very pretty name.

No, it's Yiddish.
Raish yud vais aleph, AFAIK. Derived from Rivka.
Also in Persian or something it means girl.
We had in mind the latter when we named one of my girls with this middle name as my grandmother with the name Rivka was still alive.

We researched the name heavily and it is Hebrew with a hei at the end.
Maybe there are some that think otherwise but most sources say it's Hebrew, with a hei, and from Rivka.

1. Orach Hashulchan, hilchos gittin, siman 129, sheimos hanashim under the title beginning "rivka"
2. Shaimos Hagittin in Shulchan Aruch by the Bais Shmuel in hilchos geirushin
3. Igros Moshe, Even Haezer, Chelek Gimmel, Siman 38

I asked my husband.
He said Reva is not any language as a diminutive of Rivka.
A nickname is no real language...
When you name Reva to mean little girl, and not as a nickname for Rivka, then it's Aramaic (what I said before about Persian. My apologies for my memory being fuzzy due to the fact we had this conversation at 11 PM the night my baby was born )

Yes, it's means a young girl in Hebrew. Nothing to do with Rivka.

It means fight, as in Shemona Esrei.

It's my second name--and spelled reish yud veis hey. I had "issues" with my name when I got engaged (and had requested a brocha on the engagement), and the Lubavicher Rebbe recognized me by this name, spelled this way. I was told it's a diminutive of Rivka.

If you look up the three reputable sources I posted above, you will see that it is a diminutive of Rivka and does not mean fight.
