What is the best way to clean hardwood floor without damaging it.
I hear I need a special mop/vacum and no water so how do you clean it, can you use a steam vacum?

my hardwood floor guy says use water and hardwood floor cleaner, or at least plain water. don't use anything not intended for hard wood in terms of cleaner.

I sweep or vacuum and then use the swiffer wetjet with the special liquid for hardwood floors, it comes in a brown bottle.

what I find easy and best is to use the israeli sponja sstick with the israeli floor shmata. I fill a bucket with water and a little vinegar, and its best dor the floors, it keeps it smooth and shiny, and its also a good disinfectant .ofcourse u should sweep or vacuum the floors b4 u wash them. good luck!

that's what I do, except I dont know where to get an israeli sponja stick in NY. I use an old mop with the sponge removed and have cut a hole in a large shmatta to fit over the bar meant for the sponge.
we also use water/vinegar.
I was told not to use too much water (no puddles) or to dry the floors quickly (usually open the windows because dh hates the vinegar smell)
