I have a diaper champ. I love it. It uses regular garbage bags so no need for any extra expense. Its so convenient and doesnt smell at all. I dont have to run downstairs every time my child has a dirty diaper and throw it out.

We use(d) a regular flip/swing-top garbage pail (in the bathroom). I think it got emptied every other day, or every 3rd day. We never had a smell problem. And we didn't bag anything separately.
