Since the begining of the year my 3 yr. old son's teacher has been bugging me to take him to get evaluated.
She claims that he has a hard time sitting during circle-time. and he'll get up during, and start playing with the different games and corners in the room. (as in Dr's corner, the library etc..)
I stood outside one day, and to be honest, it was even hard for me to just keep on listening to what she was saying, it was really boring, she was reading a story from a booklet, and the kids couldn't really see the pictures which she would quickly "show" every once in a while. The language was on a very high level (even for an adult) and it was lasting forever!!!
She also tells me that he hits the kids!

At first I felt really bad, like they were telling me that I have a crazy boy.
But, I got over it, and today I took him to our Dr. to start the process.
It's a very long process.... We all have to fill out forms, the parents, the teachers and the Dr.
and then we take the forms and the child to a specialist who will decide if he actually needs some kind of therapy.
and if the clinic approves it, we can go ahead and take him.

BTW, our Dr. (the one I took him to today) thinks my son is perfectly normal, and that the teacher may have a problem. (like - she doesn't have the patience to deal with anything that is not as straight as a ruler....)

What do y'all think?
Confused

your son sounds very similar to mine. I did some research and spoke to some professionals who all agreed that 3 is to young to diagnose with ADD/ADHD (I assume that is what you are testing for). Some sensory help may be helpful but is very rarely neccesary. I have done nothing with my son (who has been difficult since day 1) and I see that as long as he is entertained he is fine. When things are unstructured or boring - he becomes a monster. Though teachers (and some parents) would rather scream "therapy, therapy" my understanding is that this is not abnormal for a 3 year old.

For a 5-6 year old, then we could start talking...

By the way, how is he verbally? My son is a bit behind which I think has something to do with the hitting. We are working on "using words" and getting him some speech help but that is all the therapy that I will do until he is at least 5.

OP here -

But what should I do if the teacher is not willing to "Deal" with him??

I'm so against this phanomonen (spelling?) of giving everyone RITALIN just because they can't "Deal" with the kid.
It's so awful!!!

In my opinion someone like that should not be teaching - is there any possibility of changing schools? Your son doesn't sound THAT bad - hitting and short attn. span is not that abnormal for a 3 year old!

When my son was in kindergarten, his Rebbe told me the same thing. I know my son, he is an extraordinary patient child, (can sit with crayons for hours). I sent $100 (not a penny less) in an envelope the next rosh chodesh and two weeks later I got a call from the Rebbe to tell me how cute my son was that day and he went on to tell me some silly story… I never heard a peep ever since. I am a big believer in ‘investing’ with money, at a later date you will not be able to pay your way out with money if you don’t make your Child’s school experience pleasant from day one.

. Are you serious shock ????
How can you keep your child in a classroom with a Rebbe who acts like that.

I am committed to this chassidus and the rebbes are very qualified, but they don’t get paid for months sometimes. This is the best I can do. My friend sends every Rosh Chodesh $50, whether she has or not, because she needs all the help she can get for her son. Let’s just say he’s not an easy cookie.

I agree Exclamation
and besides the begining of the school year wasn't that just a month or so ago. Rolling Eyes
It could well be that the teacher is the one that needs to be: evaluated Twisted Evil
