I turn each section inside out, and vaccuum all around the edges. Then I wash it in the machine, clean the plastic with windex.
P.S. I hate doing it.

Depends which type/what type of washing it can handle.
I use a cleaning toothbrush to get rid of the crumbs. Then depending on how delicate it is, wash by hand, or on delicate in the machine.
