On a side note, since we are discussing playing. Does any of your two year olds play through the day alone? Mine only plays alone right before bedtime (once hes done dinner & ready for bed) otherwise he only wants to play with me or DH. I think its normal, but I wonder how much of that 'clinginess' really is. |
if he can play himself just near you, that's ok too. If he needs to play the whole time with you, that's too clingy. |
He actually says "Play with Mommy" but then when I sit near him to play its more like he's playing & I'm 'managing' (more like watching, bored) He doesn't even let me color when he's coloring! Its so frustrating! Like do you want me here or not? But he'll randomly play alone too so I'm not worried about that. Its just annoying when he doesn't want to go play unless I sit near him and I just end up sitting there bored... |
I have that a lot. So I have learned a few things that work: Have him play on the floor in the kitchen when I'm making supper. On shabbos, I sit on a nice comfy chair in his room while he's playing and read. Also on shabbos (When I'm home with him many hours at a time). I rest and read in bed and he plays on the floor or on my bed

Okay, so its normal! Yeah, I do that sometimes & he'll oblige but other times he's more demanding (usually right after playgroup)
