Dr. Joseph Levy is a top Pediatric GI doctor. I also used Dr. Pittman who I thought was pretty good. Dr. Levy is with NYU and Dr. Pittman is with Mt Sinai.

Yes, I do realize how big NY is - I'm from there, after all. But I have a car, and don't need someone within a 10-block radius of my house. I wrote NY as opposed to Israel (which is where I am until next week) and also as opposed to Baltimore or Cleveland or Texas....
DS is almost a year. Are any of these doctors better or worse with really little kids?

I used Dr. Volpert from Columbia. She treated ods when he was 1 and yds when he was an infant so she knows how to do babies.

When I was looking (for a 1.5 year old), Echo recommended Dr Kazlow from Columbia. I went with him for initial endoscopy etc and had a miserable experience with his office, scheduling, etc. He himself seemed great but I couldn't deal with his office. I called back Echo and they recommended Dr Pittman from Mount Sinai. I went with her for colonoscopy and follow up etc and was very happy with her. I think Dr Kazlow is supposed to be a bigger expert and if you can deal with waiting around 3 months to schedule whatever procedure he wants to do then maybe go with him.
Good luck!

DS had encaprecis (sp?). We had a nightmare with "the head of gastroenterology at NYU".
Dr. Audrey Brirbaum of Mt Kisco Medical Center, Westchester was excellent.

Just make sure whoever you use takes your insurance. I remember looking for a pediatric gastroenterologist for DS1 when he was a baby and the only one I could find who takes my insurance (GHI) was at Brookdale Hospital in East New York, Brooklyn. Thanks, I'd rather not be dodging bullets on the way to the doctor.
