How do we get our 4 yr old to stay in his bed?

My DS goes to sleep in his own bed with no fuss, but inevitably ends up in my bed or my husband's sometime during the night. We've tried to give him incentives to stay in his own bed (star charts, small prizes) but he still comes into our room. Any advice? We are literally losing sleep over this!

Can you make it a bit harder for him to open your door, either with a lock, or with a doorknob device, so that you will hear him before he comes in and be able to escort him back to his own bed?

We usually hear him and take him back to his bed, but he comes right back in a few minutes later. And if we close our door he just cries loudly enough to wake up my 2 year old, and then nobody gets any sleep. It's just exhausting.
