My son is 4 and a half. He is usually a cheerful guy who has a lot of friends, but if there is fighting, he won't fight back. Moreover, he won't even run away. he will stand there and cr and not do anything to help himself. I have told him many time to go away from the one who hits him, but he won't. How can I help him?

The only thing I thought about is role play. Except, he is not to shy to hit his younger sibling. But when it comes to peers or older boys, he is.

He's 4 1/2. This should not be left to him to figure out.

I taught my kids how to fight back. Otherwise they never learn to stick up for themselves.

Now that he already knows how, I try to each him when it's ok to fit back and when it isn't.

OP here

The adults do interfere when they see it, but it doesn't help with the fact that he does nothing to stick up for himself.
At 4 1/2 I let him play in the other room without my immediate supervision.
