Don't laugh. My toddler is coughing a lot and after I put her down for her nap yesterday I came back to find what looked at first like blood stains. She's a naughty one and gets into everything and on second look I thought that it actually looks kind of like chocolate.
I just called the doctor and the office staff said that unless she has a few symptoms no need to come in, as it is probably a cold. And one of the symptoms is...
So is there any way of telling of the stains are blood or chocolate? Aside from some crime lab? I'm generally with her all day and haven't seen any blood anywhere. She has a very runny nose but no blood.
The doctor can only see us today right around candle lighting and I do think she probably just has a cold.

Do you have hydrogen peroxide in the house? Pour some on the stain. If it is blood, it will bubble up and turn white.

You can try putting the garment in cold water and sprinkle the stain with salt.
If it's blood, the salt generally lifts up the blood and removes the stain
