The rabbi today said that the difference is that ppl know that there is a Creator.

Can you think of others?

People understand the concepts of right and wrong and can make moral decisions (or at least they should be able to). When I carelessly leave the cake I baked for Shabbos on the counter and my dog eats it, I don't get angry at the dog because she's doing what's natural for a dog. On the other hand, if my son or husband touch they cake, they are in big trouble.

It is not on the same level at all. Speech is the sign of our neshoma inside of us. When the neshomo leaves a person he can no longer speak.

You can not compare an animal communicating with another that it has found food to a person telling their innermost thoughts, poetry, Torah secrets etc.

Rabbi Bolton has a cute song about animals..

makes me laugh, and agree with alot of what he says..

"A lion's in a cage because he cannot control his rage. He has to know that he's the king of all. If you cannot control your anger, then maybe u should go live in a jungle or a zoo."

something like that..

What I was trying to say is that I think it is more that just the fact that people can speak. More along the lines of what was said earlier, knowing right from wrong and being able to make a conscious decision about things. You can train certain birds to speak. By that logic would a mute be considered a person or an animal?

Yes, I learned three differences in school. One that we can speak (dibur), two we can choose right and wrong (bechurah) and three. Animals do not have a yetzer hora.

I’m unsure about the whole creator thing, the birds sing to Hashem, so I think that’s out, no?

Also, both animals and children make all over the house but for some reason we hate pooper-scooping after the kids, why is that! (coming from a mother who just toilet trained her baby!)

I once ate at my uncle´s and Tuvia Bolton popped in, my uncle was his rosh yeshiva, he sang that song - the entire sukka was on the floor! Except my uncle - he thought everyone was crazy!
Tuvia Bolton made the whole table chant the chorus, ``Ìn the zoo, IN THE ZOO!``
