We got an invitation to my cousin's Bas-Mitzvah.A fancy one in a nice hall,catering etc.
Whenever we go to a simcha we bring a nice gift with us!
This cousin of mine-always came to our parties(Bris,Kiddush,Birthday parties etc)She came with her husband and kids but NEVER brought any gift with her!
Once she felt uncomfortable and said:"Oh I forgot the gift-Ill bring it tomorrow.".of course tomorrow never came.
I really don't feel like giving them anything now. on the other hand I hate walking into a hall empty-handed.
What would you do?

I don't give gifts in order to receive. So if I were in that situation I would bring a gift if that's my usual practice.

I would bring something, bit not big or expensive so that way you will feel comfortable for not having to come in empty handed and yet she will not feel too uncomfortable that you brought her an expensive gift whereas she never brought you anything
