I finished cooking and have a nice amount of sauteed onions left over. Can I freeze it in portions? How?
I was thinking of putting it in an ice cube tray to freeze but it will get oily and be hard to clean. Any other ideas?
How long can they stay in the fridge before it need to go in the freezer?

I would put in little sandwich ziplock baggies. I would only keep in the fridge for a couple of days.

freeze them in usable increments in Ziploc bags or small containers.

I do it all the time. make a big batch of sauteed onions and freeze in small disposable containers.
Makes the cooking much quicker
