Aside from returning it to dry cleaners ( mine doesn't want them), is there any way to recycle? I am told it cant be recycled with household recycling.

Why can't they be recycled? That's what I've always done with mine, and I've never had any problems.

My neighbor asked me before Pesach if I want her extra hangers. I said, sure! if you'll take mine
I just toss them. Once in a while, I switch them with the ones hanging in my closet so I have fresh ones.(I wash and press my men's shirts, so I use those hangers)

My cleaners takes them back. But sometimes if I have too many and don't want them hanging around I just throw them in the garbage.
