Are you sure there is cocoa in it? Mine doesn't have any.
Instead it calls for a cinnamon sugar mixture. Use 1/3 cup sugar mixed with 2 Tbsp cinnamon.

never made it, but looking at the recipe I would guess tsp is the measurement.
(so as not to overpower the cinnamon)

~~cinnamon swirl "pound" cake~~
cake:
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
3 c. flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1 c. orange juice
cinn, mixture:
1 3/4 tsp cinnamon
1 1/4 cocoa
1/2 c. brown sugar
crumbs:
3/4 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. oil
mix cake ingredients
pour 1/3 of the batter into a tube/bundt pan
sprinkle 1/2 cinn. mixture
pour another 1/3 of the batter
sprinkle rest of cinn mixture
pour rest of batter
sprinkle crumbs on top
bake at 350 deg. for 1 hour
I make the cinn mix and crumbs in plastic bowls so I don't have so many bowls to wash. It sounds more complicated than it really is. Once I did it I realized that it was really simple and easy and I even made it again.
Enjoy! |
It looks like the recipe you are trying calls for 1 1/4 tsp cocoa.

I know this is really old buy I really want to make this today. Do I have to do this cake in a Bundt Pan? Can I do it in a 9x13??
Thanks!

This has been my go-to cake for years and years. I vary it by adding different flavors, extracts and add-ins but cinnamon is really my family's favorite. I don't make the crumbs. Instead I ice it with a combination of confectioners sugar, water or soy milk, vanilla and some cinnamon. I don't use the cocoa in the filling either. I make it in a rectangular pyrex pan all the time. It's a drop larger than a 9 x13 but you should be fine. I actually think it comes out moister in the flat pan than in the Bundt. I have no idea why.

Maybe I'll try this recipe in muffin pans or loaf pans. Seems like a good cake. I just don't want to use a bundt pan because I never have success in removing my cakes from them

I just don't care for cinnamon and cocoa as a taste combo. I also sometimes make the cake with a cocoa and sugar filling but w/o the cinnamon. I just don't like them combined.
