I have in the past bought shabbos shoes for my girls (ages 5 & 6) in payless, fabco, and H&M (maybe also children's place, don't remember). I find the quality is basically garbage, and they don't last long enough, even if they aren't falling apart they still look shabby very quickly. My girls are starting to notice and comment that their shoes don't look nice so fast, and don't want to wear them. I really don't want to spend $80 on shabbos shoes, but want something that will look decent most of the season. I heard that some companies are better, like Gap and Zara. Can anyone confirm this for me? What has been your experience with buying these cheaper brand shabbos shoes in terms of fit (staying on the foot well), comfort, and lasting?
Thanks for your help

You're naming two extremes...there's a medium between Target and Vennetini or whatever they're called.
I like this brand a lot:

You can buy online where you get the benefit of reviews that mention sometimes how they hold up. Or just go to a department store like Nordstrom's. And they often take shoes back if you think they wore out in an unreasonable amount of time.

landsend has some nicer looking shoes and flats for 30 or less if there is a sale and you have a coupon. I did have luck with childrens place I got shoes for dd for 15. also how much walking are they doing that does effect the quality that you need to buy.

Has anyone ever tried shoes from nextdirect.com. Prices are good and the shoes are cute but if it is equivalent to children's place quality then it is way overpriced.

you can buy nice quality leather shoes in places like tj maxx or marshalls or century 21 ... the thing to look for is a sale of good quality rather than cheap shoes ... same price big difference in wear & tear
