I have a one and two year old, both love falling asleep with a soothing bottle.
Up until now I've given them baby formula every night, though its becoming expensive, and is also known to be fattening (I'm especially concerned about my one year old, whose a really chubby baby).
Do I have a good enough reason to avoid cow milk which is handy, cheap, and less fattening due to all those hormones I heard they give the cows? I can't afford organic.
Does anyone have an alternative idea for their bottle, or should I just give them the milk without hesitation like most people do?

I don't know about avoiding milk, but you should definitely avoid having them fall asleep with a bottle in their mouths. It's really bad for their teeth.

Another vote for almond milk. Cows milk is not good for most humans for a whole host of reasons.

I don't give my kids cow's milk, for a variety of reasons. You can look into alternatives like amond milk or coconut milk. Just be aware of things like sugar content, which is crazy high in some of the flavored milks.

I buy organic. Also some non-"organic" says "BHA free".

Some non-organic (I.e. conventional) cheese also says "BHA free".

I think milk is very healthy for toddlers. Adults, depends... when I was TTC dc2 my then gyn, a fertility specialist, told me full fat milk ! and so did my natural doctor- for once they were in agreement...
I know outside of Europe people may see differently... but I wouldn't replace milk at that age.

Oh stop. Talk to your doctor, but please, none of that stuff. People are living quietly and peacefully using widely accepted and consumed foodstuffs. Diets vary but not for the reason you mention.
Talk to your doctor. Your kids' nutrition is too serious a subject to be decided by the internet.
And you want the opinion of a doctor who has personally seen your kids, with his eyes, in person, and knows their family and history.

I now wish I had used full fat milk instead of 2% milk.
Fat has been rehabilitated in the literature.
It is important to make food a pleasure and not a big Thing to focus on and fret about. It should be an uncomplicated joy. Yum!

My own kids pediatrician doesn't recommend cow's milk to any parents... Kids are not going to become nutritionally deficient by avoiding it.

I respect his view and he must have his reasons, but an awful lot of milk is sold. Milk-drinking isn't that big a thing with adults, so it must be going into children. Meaning his view isn't terribly mainstream. I think each case should be looked at one at a time for the specific needs of the individual. It certainly isn't weird to give your kids cow's milk. You wouldn't say "what are you doing?" about it. It's a done thing. It goes on. With no particularly obvious bad results. He has a viewpoint.

Could you please tell me which reasons? Are they so severe that I should put lots of effort to make almond milk instead? Money (for more expensive/organic milk) and Energy (for making homemade drink) are two things I have not.
