I think I'm pretty good at keeping secrets, but I don't often hear the request "can you keep a secret?". It's more like I try to have a sensitivity towards what people consider personal matters, and not tell them to others.

This. Me too. Even to DH and even anonymously if I think there's a chance he'll be able to figure out later who it was.

I couldn't. Until a close friend leaked a very deep secret that had horrible repercussions and it really came back to bite me!

Word of caution: If someone tells you someone else's secret privately, changes are very likely that she will leak yours as well. I see it time and again. Once you said it, ITS OUT OF YOUR CONTROL! To reiterate my.point, think HARD if it pays to take the risk... I now double and triple zip my lip, and lost trust in others. I learnt the hard way!!!
