I've been waiting for someone to comment. We made some changes to the colors and format.
Our goal has been to change the reading background to a pure white to make it easier to read. We decided to make the change slowly to give users time to get used to the new colors. It took about a year and very incremental changes, and we have finally arrived at a pure white. We added the purple for a splash of color.

I noticed the lilac bar today. Didn't notice a/t else changing except when my browser window is too small it thinks it's a phone? and gives me large print!

The lilac is on top of each post, there's a lilac colored bar.
And the white- well it doesn't look too bright to me. It's fine for my eyes. They're talking about the post itself. The background is now white and not bluish.

The white is too bright. I don't like it. The contrast is harsh on my eyes. Accounting paper is green, I need something like that.

Mine was the same as usual earlier on when I commented, but now I see the switch.

Mine is a pale, pale blue. I would like pure white better. Aging eyes need more contrast, which someone should tell the Artscroll people. Those special sections with shaded backgrounds are horrible, not enough contrast and very hard for aging eyes to see. Aging being not 80 but 40.
