I like the name Menachem. I think it's very sophisticated.
Shimon means "to hear" the spies spoke badly and we sinned by "hearing" That may be a stretch....

Most traditional would be Menachem. Others that fit the bill - Yirmiyahu, Yeshaya, Benzion.

What about Dvir or something else connected to the Beit Hamikdash? (Dvir could also be in memory of Dvir Emmanuel, zt'l, a fallen Israeli soldier in Cast Lead)

I love Nechemya and almost named both my ds's that (especially the 13 Av one), even though I also have a daughter Nechama .
Ezra, Daniel, Yermiyahu or any of the haftorot from this time of the year are also appropriate IMO.
