Do you ever go back to your own posts and see how many "likes" you got? Or do you just see it if you happen to be on the same page as your post and it's showing on your screen. How do you feel about the likes your posts get?

Just curious what others feel about the whole concept!

I know at least one comment will be, "why do you care?" - so to answer that: I just do. Now move on.

I dont usually go back to check my likes. but when I do find likes I feel "warm" inside. I felt very warm when I noticed I made it to the most liked list a couple times Smile

Everyone wants to feel validated, and know that others appreciate their opinions.

well some people I feel as if I know them and some people I actually do know (hi all you LOL ) but I never know if they liked me cause it doesnt say who did.

it just feels good to be complimented.... no matter who is giving the compliment. (except when its a sleazeball on the street or something, then its uchhhh but in general....)

It's nice to get likes. Who doesn't like to be liked?
Hugs, on the other hand... I'm not sure I always understand those.

I completely agree.

I write "You can buy those in Target" and I get a hug.
I write "PM me for details" and I get a hug.
I write "Try adding a shake of garlic powder to the salad" and I get a hug.

Why?

Yes, and then there are the 'jealousy' hugs, that's how I call them.

Whenever, someone posts something good about her life, she gets a hug Rolling Eyes.

Yes, I check my likes sometimes, but only in posts that I felt I had a very good answer/ advice, to know if people agree with me.

I don't normally pay attention, but if I happen to notice while scrolling down the page, of course it feels good. Though not, perhaps, as good as getting to the bus stop at the same time as the bus, and not only is the a/c working but there are plenty of vacant seats.

Gashmiyus is my middle name.

Hmm I was expecting a hug for this, at least.

We need a laugh button. I would've clicked on that for this, but liked it instead.

Does it feel good when others laugh with you?

How do you make it to the most liked list?

This is a forum with all types of people. I sometimes notice my "likes" or "dislikes aka hugs," but I'm indifferent about it. I have no idea who is actually doing the liking: It could be someone wonderful, intelligent, and decent, but then again, it could be a maniac as well. Hmm. Either way, I believe all people do like acknowledgement; however I am just not connecting with that need on an online forum.

I once saw that a post I wrote about something my grandmother once said reached the most liked posts. It was wonderful. That was something my dear grandmother, who I respected and cared for more than you could imagine, said. I was pleased that what she said got so many likes, but it did not come as a surprise.

Sure, but you have no idea who is doing the appreciating. How is that worth anything intellectually?

I don't pay attention to "likes" on my posts but I do use the "like" feature on other people's posts. It's satisfying, like nodding in agreement.

Exactly. When I wanted to write something, but see that someone else already did, I "like" it.

That could probably be abused just like the hug button. Imagine if you'd be venting about something and you'd get LAUGHS on your post!!!
