my son started bedwetting when he was six years old, and is now almost seven. This can happen once or even twio a week. Any ideas of how to help him (and me?) This was never a problem before hand!

This probably obvious but your first step is the pediatrician.
Because it has started suddenly after a period of time that he was dry the ped will want to rule out and physiological and maybe also psychological reasons that might have caused it. If those are ruled out he might recommend something like a bell system that rings when the kid is wet or medicine that will help keep him dry.
